THE SECOND COMING OF KLAUS KINSKI

Andrew Perez creates a mesmerizing portrait of legendary actor Kinski as he literally shape-shifts into the body of this force of nature. Perez is an alumni of Northwestern as well as Steppenwolf, and his tools as an actor and performance artist are on full display as he creates a one-man show to rival even solo masters like Hal Holbrook. I saw the show Saturday with a good friend who had worked with Kinski two decades previous on a film in Rome ("Crawlspace") and--having gotten to know Kinski s... full review

Martha Washington Killed A Redcoat

An inspired piece which turns history on its head. The multi-talented Matt Ritchey takes the directorial reigns on this wacked-out comedy which comes in at a tight 40 minutes. An extraordinary piece of theatre performed by a mesmerizing young actress, Corinne Shor. If you've ever wondered what it might be like to create a situation where you could re-invent yourself--to start over as someone else--then you'll want to fall down this glorious rabbit hole. The 75 minute show goes fast but leaves you feeling you've seen a life unfold before your eyes.... full review

Fair in the west of the late 1800's. The performances by this cast of eight are stellar, but special me... full review

ROMEO AND JULIET IN HELL

What a great and glorious show--a tight and hysterically funny evening with an amazing cast totally committed to a vaudeville-like journey which asks the question, "What might have happened to Romeo and Juliet after their unfortunate demise?" It's worth the trip to the Flight Theatre at the Complex to find out. From the brilliant and whacked-out mind of Matt Richey (a Shakespeare scholar himself) comes a wonderful absurdist piece of theatre that might have made even Beckett laugh. The ensembl... full review
