This show is a hoot! From the opening scene to the last moment, be prepared for fun and action. Clever and witty, it's a great analogy to every relationship you've ever been in. ... full review

Great information from some Fringe veterans, and the panels were very well moderated. I learned some things that will make it easier for me to get my show together for Fringe next year. Thanks!!... full review

Coffee Tea or Me

This was a well-written, well acted, and extremely enjoyable and stimulating play. Both men were on their A game: we had never seen either actor perform previously, and it was truly a treat watching them both take these two difficult personalities and make them their own. Dennis Neal's embodiment of Scatman Crothers was uncanny, and he brings a warm and heartfelt performance that will stay with you for a long time. Rob Locke presented us with a self-robot... full review

Orson Welles & Scatman Crothers in 'A Hollywood Ending'

dave egan · June 27, 2015 certified reviewer
I had the great good fortune to work with Orson Welles on one of his last projects: a magic special planned for BBC TV. My theater companion was a friend of Orson's who spent quite a bit of time with Wells in his last years. This show brought Orson back to life for both of us, and was worth the price of admission solely for that reason! But there was so much more to admire than that. While wisely not attempting an impersonation, Rob Locke has the physical presence to remind us of Welles, and even... full review

The 7th Annual One-Man Show World Championships

dave egan · June 24, 2015 certified reviewer
If you've ever seen more than one one-man show, you know there are certain conventions that come with the territory. In this brilliant performance, every one of those conventions gets roundly skewered in the most amazing and hilarious ways. Out of the dozen or more shows I've seen in this year's Fringe, "The 7th Annual One-Man Show World Championships" is a stand-out night in the theater that will make your sides ache, your cheeks hurt and your body want to jump out of your seat to applaud. See i... full review

The Snail

dave egan · June 21, 2015 uncertified reviewer
The Snail is a play longing to be a movie, and as a result, it fails. There's two minutes of exposition, followed by a blackout. Then there's another scene, followed by another blackout. Another short scene, another blackout. This pattern continues for the (thankfully short) duration of the play. It deals with a sensitive subject—a young man's feelings that he was born in the wrong gender's body. It's a subject that deserves attention, but this isn't the play to do that. The performers are ... full review

Nigerian Spam Scam Scam

dave egan · June 20, 2015 certified reviewer
If you've ever wondered who was on the other end of the email communication you've received from a Nigerian prince with $30 million dollars to get out of the country (or dozens of similar scams), this show gives you an amazing and hilarious insider's view. It takes you through both sides of the communication as the "scammee" (Dean Cameron) eventually gets one over on the scammer (Victor Isaac). Both performers are top-notch, and the story moves at a brisk pace, delivering laughs by the truckload ... full review

Late with Lance!

If you're up for watching someone create something special while flying by the seat of his pants at warp speed, Peter Michael Marino's "Late With Lance" is just for you. There's some amazing improvising going on here, and Marino's a master of it. We're supposed to be here for Lance's inaugural talk show, but none of his planned guests (Liza, Hugh Jackman and The Miami Sound Machine) appear. So in desperation, he turns to the audience for substitute interviewees, and that's when the zaniness s... full review

Adam & Eve... and Steve

dave egan · June 13, 2015 certified reviewer
A charming and clever retelling of the Garden of Eden tale, where Satan conjures up another possible mate for Adam (Yves, not Eve), putting a wrinkle in God's plan. Some very talented actors with great voices are given wonderful musical material to work with. The script has a few holes in it that I hope will be worked out before the production moves to a theater in NoHo post-Fringe. But if you can overlook that minor issue, you'll be entertained by a fun story and terrific songs, presented... full review
