Anika Hundal is a writer, performer, and comedian with a passion for character-driven, culturally grounded stories that explore identity, belonging, and the absurdity of the immigrant experience. Originally from Canada and currently based in Los Angeles, she recently received her MFA in Screenwriting at UCLA, where she was awarded the prestigious Jack K. Sauter Award, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Screenwriting Grant, and the Best Half-Hour Comedy Pilot award at the 2025 UCLA Screenwriters’ Showcase.
After completing her Bachelor’s at McGill University, Anika became a regular cast member of Montreal’s longest-running improv show at Theatre Sainte-Catherine. She has performed at some of comedy’s most esteemed festivals, including the “Just For Laughs” Festival and Montreal Sketch Fest, where her sketch group was honored with the “Best Local Troupe” award. In addition to her performance career, Anika spent two years as a local radio DJ/host, worked as a director’s assistant on a Netflix film set, and was a teaching assistant for UCLA’s Introduction to Screenwriting course. She also served as First AD on multiple short films.
Anika enjoys writing dramedies with heavy pop culture influences and romantic comedies with an LGBTQ twist. She promises her parents are proud of her.
