Homecoming: A Darkly Funny Tale About Losing My Mom and Finding Myself... Again

andrew phillips · June 29, 2026 certified reviewer
Dara understands grief. And what Homecoming conveys is that is a complicated emotion that we all will face at some point but some become acquainted with it sooner than others. Dara also understands comedy. She manages to find some of the biggest laughs in this show in the small observations she makes on how she handled the challenging and also the mundane moments of her life. This is not a performance of an autobiography but a personification of the complexities and absurdities of maternal rela... full review

ANXIETY THE MUSICAL! (do you like that title? is that okay?)

andrew phillips · June 26, 2026 certified reviewer
I do like the title and it is okay. Anxiety The Musical is a hilarious ride through what I thought was just what it’s like to be alive. Jasmine is such a funny and charismatic performer I could have watched thirty more minutes. Her writing is clever and really taps into something that I don’t think I’ve seen accurately represented in any kind of media. The songs are also catchy and her voice is beautiful. Above all though Jasmine is a great comedic performer. ... full review

Brendan Scannell: The Abyss

andrew phillips · June 26, 2026 certified reviewer
This show is so incredibly funny. Its simple premise allows Brendan to immediately draw the audience in and make them feel at ease, like we are all really hanging out on a submersible. I am even hesitant to share much more because I think The Abyss just needs to be experienced. It’s an expertly crafted solo show that truly takes you along a journey with the performer. The Abyss is the definitive example of the form. ... full review

While it’s certainly sentimental and emotional at times it never feels self indulgent or saccharine. Kel is just so effortlessly charming. ... full review

Magda is such a gifted performer that this absurd character feels so lived in and authentic. Her use of this device to present a show that is also personal for her is no easy feat. She knows exactly what she’s doing and the audience ate it up. ... full review

On the Line

andrew phillips · June 19, 2026 certified reviewer
On the Line feels like an episode of a serialized suspense drama that never was. Its tone captures perfectly an 80’s piece that I’d watch too young late at night while being smartly written to actually have something to say regarding assault. ... full review

MOTHER

andrew phillips · June 19, 2026 certified reviewer
The show is a bold solo piece that successfully creates a very recognizable portrayal of isolation and loneliness in our modern era. The piece is at times unnerving and others hilarious. Many have complicated relationships with their parents and MOTHER is obviously the performer reckoning with their own. See it! ... full review

I Am Going to Reveal Something Personal About Myself

Sarah does an excellent job of executing the classic tropes of the one woman show while maintaining some respect for the genre. She also does an excellent job of heightening and calling back to bits throughout. She’s a charismatic performer and excellent writer. ... full review
