I was the Broadway Critic for The Hollywood Reporter in the ’80’s and I presently review theater monthly in my column in senior newspaper NOT BORN YESTERDAY, and also on my blog: theatrespokenhere. As a critic/reviewer, I describe what I see and experience in the hope that the reader can decide if that’s their kind of show or not. In Live Theater, it’s all good! I’ve been in theater all my life, first at age 20 as an actor on Broadway, then as a writer and director in the exciting original in-your-face Off-Off- Broadway movement. I’ve had plays done in London’s West End, at the Edinburgh Festival, at Yale Law School, dozens in New York City including Lincoln Center, at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, contest winner in Oklahoma City, Wheeling West Virginia, Cleveland Ohio and, just last year, in Austin, TX. My one-woman show HARRIET TUBMAN HERSELF, starring Christine Dixon, is in its 10th year touring the East Coast. For ten years I directed outdoor Shakespeare in Manhattan for the NYC Dept of Cultural Affairs before moving to Hollywood seven years ago. I love the Fringe because theater flourishes best without gate-keepers making judgments on what deserves to be produced. Bravo to all who participate! See you at The Fringe!
