Masha Mitkov (any)

Masha was born in Odessa, Ukraine, and moved to the states as a toddler with her family in the 90’s with refugee status after her 11 year old brother was violently murdered. Her family would attend Russian speaking Bard festivals throughout the West Coast, where 100-200 people would spend the weekend swapping songs, poems and stories around campfires. This inspired her to pick up the accordion as a teenager, along with the desire to continue keeping traditional songs alive, and create events that foster community and connection through music and dance. You might find her playing with Blind Lizard Balkan Band, playing French music at your favorite cafe, cabarets, puppets, Tango, Opera, Contemporary Classical and experiments you wish you hadn’t heard of.
Over the course of her lifetime, the accordion has become a dynamic tool used to enhance the presence of performance art, and connect to a deeper level of consciousness while calming the nervous system.
