DAVESOLOMON is a NYC based writer/director working in both theatre and film. In Los Angeles, he directed the play The Dodgers at the Hudson Theatre Mainstage (featuring Corbin Bleu, Emma Hunton, Eric Nelsen, Asher Grodman, Talisa Friedman and Jared Gertner) and the first National Tour of Tootsie the Musical at the Dolby. He was also the Associate Director of the world premiere productions of Curtains and 9 to 5 at The Ahmanson/CTG.
His short film, Brenda & Billy (and the Pothos Plant) – starring Santino Fontana and Sarah Stiles – premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and played over 20 festivals. He also wrote and directed the award-winning Photo Op (starring Randy Harrison) that played over twenty-five festivals including Palm Springs and Outfest.
Solomon assisted Oscar-winning screenwriter and director Bill Condon on the films Mr. Holmes and Beauty and the Beast. He also served as Condon’s associate on the revised production of Side Show on Broadway and at La Jolla Playhouse and was an Associate Producer on “A Christmas Story Live” for Fox. He has been an Associate Director to Joe Mantello and Scott Ellis and has worked on twelve Broadway productions including Mystery of Edwin Drood, Elf (2024), 9 to 5, Sunday in the Park with George, Curtains and Assassins. He also directed the Japanese premiere production of Tootsie produced by TOHO Theatricals.
