Julia Scott-Russell

Julia Scott-Russell is a British actor, voice over artist and BBC trained presenter, who feels at home both in front of the camera and on stage.

Graduating with BA joint honours Politics & East European Studies from the University of Nottingham, Julia pursued her passion for poetry at Guildhall receiving the Certificate in Verse. Julia fulfilled her ambition to work for the BBC at BBC Birmingham ‘Midlands Today’ news. Julia was offered a position to be a news editor’s runner working on “Earlies” and “Lates” for the first and last news of the day. Proving herself as committed and capable, Julia quickly made herself invaluable to the news team and was offered a journalism & presenting placement. Working on live stories as a “Preditor” (presenter, producer, sounds/camera operator and editor), Julia honed her presenting and production skills by finding interesting stories and packaging them professionally for broadcast.

Armed with production skills and yearning to tell fictional stories, Julia returned to London to pursue filmmaking – both in front and behind the camera.

Having enjoyed a successful showcase at RADA and with numerous roles in short films, Julia moved behind the camera crewing for productions and went on to direct her own short. Impressed by her commitment to the art, Brighton Film School offered Julia a lecturing position teaching film students the skill of directing actors. Having always wanted to attend film school, Julia then won a place at the BFS as a student and used her lecturing to supplement the fees.

Following film school, Julia has worked behind the camera at Latitude Films, a successful commercial company, and in a pivotal role within Project Development for Prescience Film Finance.

Utilising her voice artist skills, Julia was pleased to be made ‘Voice of Sussex’ for the Visit Britain’s tourist promotions.

Julia recently appeared in the ‘The Dead’, an African zombie horror movie, directed by Howard J Ford, which has secured a 2011 theatrical release in numerous countries including distribution across 140 screens in the USA.

Passionate for a challenge and missing live work, Julia is excited to be cast in ‘The Audition’, by James Johnson. Premiering in Los Angeles, following the London run, Julia hopes to bring some depth and creativity to this sharp and twisted thriller.
