"Only Child Syndrome" was an exciting theatrical experience eagerly attended by a rapt audience that writer/director/star Jay kept engaged and even cheering for the entire hour. This show tackles the universal question of what one should make of one's birth order (or more specifically, one's only-child status) on a hilarious, endearing personal scale. What really set this piece apart for me was the intelligence and humor of the writing! It tackled so many of humanity's social issues through the delightfully abstract allegorical device of a wolf society (which has been tainted, of course, by influence from humans).... full review

Xander has created an achingly vulnerable, universally moving, and fresh-feeling piece of theater. Watching this show performed was a historic-feeling moment that bonded us as an audience, especially since we caught the night with Xander's real father watching remotely. The hardest I've laughed all Fringe and my runaway favorite show. Shockingly faithful to the original movie - down to the costumes and the Amy Poehler cadence of speaking - but somehow even more exciting, with creative staging that floods the whole venue and creates an extremely immersive experience. Brilliant technical elements, GORGEOUS writing, and phenomenal acting. Ghosttown knocks it out of the park across the board, not only as "a Fringe show" but as a top quality piece of theater. As a writer, Pleshinger's voice effortlessly commands attention and will clearly be sought-after and listened attentively to for years to come. Beautiful and subversive. The kicker is that this show ends up being not only about being young and taken advantage of, but is really about the way its female protagonist forms attachment and processes not only the central, traumatic attachment but all of her trauma through her complicated but steadfast faith. Glossolalia is a stunningly written play that resolves in the most satisfying climax I've seen onstage in LA.... full review

I adored this piece and immediately wanted to get my hands on the script as a reader, an actor, and a fan. Brilliantly written and brilliantly acted, Slack Tide follows a foursome of old friends tackling the transition from school into early adulthood.
