Doctor Faustus

Nice condensed presentation of the original Marlowe and delivered with a grrrr punk aesthetic that served Lucifer's cohort well. Fun, smart production where everyone was 110% "in" -- which was great!... full review

Loved. This. Show. Loved the characters, the pace, the structure. And it was wonderful to experience a treatment of this icky issue (that women deal with all the dang time) that was very on-point, but also fresh and funny in all the right ways. (Feminism can be funny...!! Surprise!!) Extremely happy to hear it got an extension and will be bringing my nieces, who live this reality all the time. ... full review

Wonderful story that was new history for me. Loved the play itself--very strong, well written. And the performance was fantastic. Congrats to the creative team! ... full review

Lost Moon Radio presents Million Dollar Hair

As a Lost Moon virgin, didn't really know what to expect. The company has HUGE buzz among Fringers so I figured the show was a good bet. And the buzz was right: had a great time and felt this show was A-game level for Fringe. Loved the parody musical numbers and comedy-grotesque characters. The found photo slideshow was hilarious. And the smoking band was beyond beyond. But my biggest "wow" of the show was Leslie Korein as January Waterbed Schonfeld. As far as I'm concerned, she was absolute... full review

The Divine Teat

Mr. Christensen is insane…in a good way. Very funny, loopy, multi-character self-help session where we're inspired to remember: it is possible to suck it and get absolutely everything we want--out of life and comedy and absurdist theater. What a blessing...... full review

RSVP: RIP (Really Into Partying)

Go. This is some high class stuff for Fringe (real directing, acting and mad musical skills) and we totally loved the show. Funny, smart and extremely well done. And so SO delicious that we're all sitting in a theater on Hollywood Boulevard, laughing our asses off about how stressful it is to try and figure out how to get famous--FAST. (...yeah, it sucks when your parents don't pay for head shots and give you a frickin' BIKE instead…) ... full review

Bronies: The Musical

First: Go. Second: thank you. I learned a lot (prior to seeing this show I had no idea what a "Bronie" was…other than the Wiki search I did, so I was semi-clued in.) Now I get it, and think I got bronie contact high the night I saw it. I must admit, it took a minute for my "irony meter" to calm down and realize this wasn't "a making fun of" show…it was true, "sincere love of" show. Wow. That's like finding a perfect cupcake in the bottom of your messy purse. Seems impossible…but so e... full review

The Last Remnants of Cops, Robbers & Hollywood Cowboys

Interesting "tales of the city" piece with some very strong performances. Definitely worth seeing. My fantasy, in terms of the evolution of this piece: I'm more of a "show rather than tell" fan, so would like to see the author experiment with letting each actor BE the character they're describing. What you actually have here is a 1 man show in disguise as a series of monologues. Not 100% sure the strategy deployed to move the storytelling from page-to-stage is as strong as the stories them... full review

The Most Massive Woman Wins

As far as I'm concerned, this is a subject that cannot get enough attention in our culture. I didn't know the play, so was very glad to see the material produced at Fringe. The direction was **excellent** (so much of Fringe is not- or under-directed…actors sort of wondering around or giving us 'actor naturalism' that actually feels pretty darn artificial.) The director used very smart stage business to literally punctuate the script. Very effective. And the cast really committed to the dire... full review

Listen... Can You Hear Me Now?

kimberly fox · June 17, 2013 certified reviewer
First let me say, as an "over 50" female myself, I'm always interested in hearing other "mature" women's stories (not enough of that in this world, IMHO). Also, I was intrigued by the show's description and wondered what kind of story we might "hear." I was surprised and challenged by Rosen's bio-play. Her's is a most unusual and utterly unique journey of finding her own voice--literally and poetically. I loved the artful spareness of her staging and, as the story unfolded, I kept wondering "h... full review
