A beautiful examination of friendship and grief. Fantastic script and wonderful performances. Gave me all the feels! A show filled with a tremendous amount of heart.... full review

Doom Girls

This is a great concept filled with tremendous possibility. It lends itself well to animation ideas, but as a live performance with a larger budget this could be tremendous. Jenni built a fun, playful world that touches on real issues we humans face. I truly hope it's developed more:... full review

Waiting for [Gal] Gadot by Jake Thomas

I think it's really special to be able to say that after saying 36 shows at the Hollywood Fringe, I can still be surprised. This is one of the best shows I saw at the entire festival. Sharp in the street, writing, perfect performance performances and excellent direction. This isn't just a good show, it's a great show!... full review

Three Eulogies for Tyson Miller

A thoroughly enjoyable story about friendship, how it changes, what goes unsaid and how as we grow older, those friendships change, sometimes without explanation. We often see stories about relationships that break up, but the friendships we lose along the way are often just as heartbreaking and Gabriel's story highlights that difficult in a very relatable way.... full review

CVNT

One of my favorite clown shows ever! CVNT entertains, confronts and educates in the most playful way. Sophie was mesmerizing as a life-sized ... can I say that word in a review? Funny, kind, hilarious, weird, powerful and celebratory! The word outside the US is common, but in America it's rather stigmatized and love how this show celebrates the word in all its meanings.... full review

Comics Reading Comics

My only complaint is I had to leave early to get to another show! UGH! This was a DELIGHTFUL show filled with laughs about a medium I worked in for 22 years, so it felt purpose built for me! But I know for a fact you don't have to be a comics fan to enjoy the absurdity of the comics these wonderful actors brought to laugh! And the song sung by Shoshana and Nick was absolutely delightful, filled with laughter and love.... full review

Pit of Hope

I really enjoyed this play. Sstrong writing and directing. The set worked perfectly, selling the environment well. A thoughtful examination of current issues told in an impressive way, with a few surprises embodied well by actor Christian Wienker that were very effective.... full review

CLUB CLOWN

An absolutely delightful hour of entertainment. This live directed clown show benefits from an excellent theme that draws you in from the moment it starts. Will does a great job playing the ringmaster and keeping the chaos at high levels throught. His own character is clearly defined and wonderfully playful. I can't imagine anyone walking away from the Club not having fun. This isn't some exclusive Sunset Strip club, but welcome to all and a not to be missed show at the Hollywood Fringe.... full review

UNPLUGGED ELECTRIC GUITAR

A tremendous piece of theater that uses space brilliantly. Intimate. Personal. Heartfelt and touching. Danny has written something deep, filled with subtext and sharp dialogue that says so much without saying it directly. He writes how people speak and how they express emotion - rarely directly, but with indirect cues and in subtle ways. The cast was sepctacular. All of them were fantastic, some of the best acting I saw at the Fringe, but a special mention of Jack Little is required who blew m... full review

Women Who Eat

Fringe is so many things - one person shows, clown shows, experimental theater, traditional theater - whatever kind of show you're doing, it has to be either funny, deeply experimental, take wild swings, really go for your heart or be really surprising. If it doesn't do at least one of those things, what's the point? Women Who Eat is surprising, funny and takes some wild swings and it makes the festival better because of that! This is a great play that while you might figure out where it's lea... full review
