My name is Sherine Chalhie. I am a British London born Syrian Irish actress, now in LA. I started out as an actress. I was so disillusioned by the lack of Arabic female voices in Film, Theatre and TV that I decided to take matters into my own hands and start writing. I want to see stories that represent people and stories from my culture and working class backgrounds.
In 2019 I did an R&D at Oval house where I wrote my one woman show which received Arts Council funding.
I have since then adapted my solo show “Why so Syrian?” which went on to be performed at a central London venue called Soho Theatre in 2022.
I then applied for Soho Labs which I got accepted where my play “Secrets of da Syrians Sisters” got shortlisted for the Tony Craze Award in 2022.
