Tenderly: The Life & Times of Nat King Cole

brenda wong · June 25, 2026 certified reviewer
This show was absolutely incredible. The title would have you reasonably believe this was a show entirely focused on Nat King Cole, which is already a huge draw, but it was so much more. Structured as a tribute to Cole, presented by talented musician Duane Forrest, this show moves seamlessly between the life and times of Nat King Cole as promised, Black history and the struggle for equality, and Forrest’s own personal stories of being a Black musician in Toronto, born to Jamaican parents. Forrest... full review

SAW: Surviving Scott Sharma

This show was unexpected in the best of ways. Perhaps I didn't know what to expect, but I was not expecting this one-person show to be so introspective and humorous at the same time, drawing on Scott's life experiences. I wasn't expecting to see multiple versions of the solo performer on a screen. I wasn't expecting the singing either, but Scott has an amazing voice, both as a singer and a storyteller.... full review

CLUB CLOWN

Club Clown is so much fun. You, the audience, get to approve the clowns seeking entry into the club by waving the glow wands you get at the door. Music, dancing, and performers in their clown persona, and you even get to get on that Club Clown dance floor at the end of the show.... full review

Husky Whispers: Baked Alaska

From songs about sickly dogs to all-you-can-eat buffets to stomach distress, this comedy folk duo had me laughing. At the end of the show, they broke from the humor, but not their onstage personas, to sing a heartfelt cover of Bruce Springsteen's "The Streets of Minneapolis." ... full review

The Vertical

I went into this show never having seen a vertical show, never even knowing what one was. I left more knowledgeable and also laughing, after experiencing the biting humorous commentary on this form of entertainment. From terrible AI-written scripts to apathetic background actors, to models turned leads because they had the right look, this show highlights the racism in the casting of verticals.... full review

Don't Kill Daisy

A fun interactive show in which audience members select from a "shop" of random objects for Daisy, a video game character, to use to save the world. Pick out outfits and weapons for Daisy. Embedded in the fun and games though, is a message about what we are teaching younger generations, and the world we are leaving for them.... full review

2026 Salem Witch Trial

brenda wong · June 16, 2026 certified reviewer
This is a show that reminds us that truth is often stranger than fiction. Gretchen Wylder, self-identifying tarot card reading lesbian, moves into a cottage in a Christian community close to where the Salem witch trials took place. What follows is a tale of age-old prejudices meeting modern technology and litigation, peppered with historical and biblical tales of women facing persecution for not behaving as Christianity dictates.... full review
