Damien Warren-Smith is an award-winning writer, producer and performer of live theatre and absurd comedy. Having grown up in various parts of regional Australia he ended up in Sydney where he trained at the Actors Centre. Upon graduation he moved to London where he worked with some of the UK’s biggest TV and theatre companies including BBC, ITV and Tall Stories for well over a decade. Damien retrained as a clown at École Philippe Gaulier in Paris and later the Atelier des Mime in Berlin. He collaborated with renowned comedy director Cal McCrystal for his breakout solo show Garry Starr Performs Everything which won awards at Adelaide, Brighton and Manchester Fringe festivals and was nominated for both Best Newcomer & The Golden Gibbo at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The show then sold out every night for a month at the Edinburgh Fringe before transferring to London’s Soho Theatre. He teamed up with McCrystal again in 2019 to create the role of Reverend Peabody as part of the Atomic Saloon Show which played to packed houses at The Venetian in Las Vegas. His new solo show Garry Starr: Greece Lightning will begin touring Australia in 2022.
