Blow the Man Down: A Sea Shanty Concert

I saw this show and it’s first preview and it is easily one of the most professional shows I’ve seen at the fringe. I can’t believe it was that put together at first preview. I loved hearing the live music and such an intimate venue. You could feel the harmonies and rhythms, in your body like a very visceral and ephemeral feeling.... full review

Safety Stew

Using a blender to drink nasty cocktails and a paper shredder could come off as a cheap gimmick that gets old about 5 minutes into the show…but not with B.K. Wong’s “Saftey Stew”! This show is one of the best examples of performance art that really tugs at your heart strings. I thought the pacing, the story, costuming, and overall performance was very genuine. B.K. never over acts which created such intimacy for the performance.... full review

To Be Liberated

This show is one of my favorite shows. I have seen at the Hollywood fringe this year! There was truly nothing like this at the festival and I so appreciate the cross cultural performance.I was so moved by the vulnerability, the high stakes, and boldness of both the script and the performances. While I do not speak Korean, and there were subtitles, I could feel the desperation, the emotion, And the turmoil that was going on in these actresses on stage. I really loved seeing the contrast of conflic... full review

SHAKE IT AWAY: THE ANN MILLER STORY

I am always so impressed by Kayla’s authenticity with both of her shows. She clearly did her homework on Ann Miller and created a three-dimensional, genuine and vulnerable character. I thought the performance was tracing and really took me back in time with just a simple chair, some sound cues and of course Kayla’s captivating performance and writing.... full review

Mom, Are You There?

Mary is one of the most genuine and vulnerable performers I have ever seen. I really loved the hopeful ending. She gave this piece, it really could’ve gone a different way and I am so proud and admire the hopeful ending she gave us. She took us on a very clear journey of her life that held a lot of trauma yet she did a wonderful job of providing genuine levity in moments. ... full review

Buen Camino

I was so moved by this production. I will admit, I came into this production after my tech, and I was very distracted, however, my distractions floated away right when Susan entered the stage. She is a genuine force and inspiration as a performer and as a writer. I loved her use of theatricality to make us feel like we were on this journey with her with only a couple black chairs and acting cube and some projections. That was really impressive to me! If you didn’t feel the passion in this perform... full review

STAGE MAMMA: From Child Star to Leading Lady

This show and Rheagan’s performance quite literally had me on the edge of my seat. I kept inching closer and closer and closer to the stage as she was performing because she was so captivating. I couldn’t get over how captivating her performance was and she truly has that “it “factor we talk about and truly hope we have as performers. I especially loved a section of her show that is quite heavy, I love the way she handled it with sensitivity, but also created a theatrical experience that made me ... full review
