If you have the chance, see Gracie and Rose. Time at once stands still and unfurls like barreling herd of sheep in Anastasia Coon’s world premiere piece. She seamlessly moves from character to character, fully inhabiting their private and public moments, creating an intimate, raw portrayal of these women’s lives as they try to stitch them together. Anastasia’s work with objects is surprising and viscerally effective, reinforcing the action and emotions. Fantastic!

Sewer Rats at Sea is a curious, dangerous story to come from such a young playwright. ZK's language is intricate, intelligent and certainly dreamy. Aaron's hand at direction is palpable: the actors dance across the stage in between snappy, verbal exchanges, and the sexual tension and danger of their encounter engages throughout. Without enough dramatic action, however, I found myself drifting off, returning to a loop of poetic descriptions.
My favorite moment was also my most hated: the “...

What can I say, it's the best show I never saw. I wish I had an extra special selection option in the left-hand module of this review form for this show. I rolled up to Open Fist Wednesday evening, hoping I could drop into a random show at a random time, in the very sprit of Fringe, and the cast never arrived! I purchased a ticket, and subsequently got a refund. Perhaps this no show is a HFF first, but it begs the question: would you rather perform to an empty house or not at all? ...

If you enjoy laughing 'til you cry, go see what Butt has to offer. I wish that all mysteries could be solved in such a frank, dirty, and hilarious manner. This show is very inspiring much in the way of Red Bastard from last year's Fringe, and I haven't enjoyed an actor's performance this much since. Talk about selfless! In every moment Deanna was simply and totally in the room with her audience. As private eye Butt Kapinski, she/he explores the audience through questions and with props, elic...

Clever writing. Honest, subtle acting. Reminds us all how funny dating can be. I dare say this may even be good for a date, provided you grab a drink before or afterwards to soften the blows. ...

Hilarious, grotesque, and sometimes downright gross. A fantastic interactive performance by Gabe, letting us into his character's apocalyptic world with darting eyes, deftly maneuvered steps, and manic tangents. Beautiful set and costume, reminding me of the 7 1/2 floor in Being John Malkovich, or a slightly less psychedelic version of a party Hunter S. Thompson has been to. So pleased. Looking forward to seeing more from Black Hive Theater Projects....

Once again Four Clowns proves that leaving the stage a complete mess is a sign of good work: Half-naked, wet, and covered in marshmallows. I was skeptical that only two clowns could prove the feat set forth by their previous productions, but Martin & T.R. did so with such finesse. You'd be a fool to miss it. ...
