Donogh Rees
Donogh Rees is a New Zealand based actor who has worked across the various disciplines of theatre, screen and television since graduating from Theatre Corporate Drama School in Auckland, New Zealand in 1978.
Her breakout performance was in the title role of Constance, directed by Bruce Morrison, it went to Cannes and was well received by international audiences.
Recent theatre credits include: in Auckland, playing Caesar in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar; Cradle Song by Albert Belz; Tennessee Williams’ Auto de Fey; Ionesco’s The Lesson; Not Psycho directed by Ben Hansen a company devised piece.
Donogh won a New Zealand Film and TV Award for Best Female Supporting Performance for her role alongside Marcia Gay Harden in Alison Maclean’s Crush. The film was selected in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. Other film credits include Channelling Baby; Power Rangers; Hercules; Xena. She is also known to New Zealand audiences for her role as Director of Nursing Judy Brownlee in the tv show Shortland Street.
Donogh says “Norelle Scott and I worked together frequently in the past, especially when we were young actors together doing pub shows and her first plays. It is splendid to be involved, albeit long distance, in one of her plays again.”
