THE HUMAN[OID] EXPERIENCE

libby baumgartner · June 24, 2019 certified reviewer
This show pinpoints exactly the existential crisis that so many artists go through when trying to reason why they are doing the work they do. Funny and ridiculous and also weirdly touching, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of The Human(oid) Experience. (Even sitting next to my mom for the porn) ... full review

My Trans Wife

libby baumgartner · June 24, 2019 certified reviewer
My Trans Wife is a wonderfully honest story about two women seeking out who they are and learning to love each other and themselves in the best way. With witty writing and amazing harmonica music, I was entertained and enthralled by Mimi and Mara's journey the entire show. ... full review

How I Became A Superhero

libby baumgartner · June 24, 2019 certified reviewer
Daly's vision of a superhero movie via the stage is well recognized, with ridiculous super villains, a lot of spandex, and a down to earth girlfriend saving the day. A unique look at the expectations on superheros, this show is a lot of fun, while managing to have real moments as well. ... full review

No Child Left Behind.

No Child Left Behind is a beautifully acted piece that digs deep into human prejudice and apartheid while still being witty and lively. The balance and gravity that Makha has is truly captivating to watch. ... full review

Crack Whore, Bulimic, Girl-Next-Door

The writing is exceptionally courageous, the acting painfully honest, and the story outrageously real and funny. I laughed and cried and had an existential crisis. Crack Whore needs to be seen. ... full review

Speak I Will: A Fractured Shakespeare

libby baumgartner · June 22, 2019 certified reviewer
Kharissa has put together an incredibly clear vision from Shakespeare's words. Each performer shines. The show's heartbeat is strong and I would recommend to anyone, whether or not you're a 'fan's of Shakespeare. ... full review

An Excuse To Behave Badly

libby baumgartner · June 16, 2019 certified reviewer
This show is so much fun! You're drawn in immediately by the characters, and you want to know more about who they are; and you get to throughout the course of a wild night! The performances are wonderful and walk the line of 'playing drunk' without overdoing it. The story is all too realistic and ridiculous, and I loved that it had serious moments tucked in to the hilarity. ... full review

The mAsHeR

libby baumgartner · June 16, 2019 certified reviewer
This show is poignant, hilarious, terrifying, and sweet. The acting is very good, and Blake McCormack especially is wonderfully versatile in his different roles. The Masher reflects on our misogynistic society and the vastly different lens that women observe it through. Deeply emotional in the midst of a mysterious plot, The Masher keeps you intrigued and concerned for the characters throughout. ... full review

The Last PowerPoint

libby baumgartner · June 16, 2019 certified reviewer
This show was bizarre and amazing and confusing, but very clear. You have no idea what's going to happen! Ben is hilarious, with fantastic comedic timing and yet, moments of very serious commentary. The Last PowerPoint makes you think - about consumerism, death, and the weird marketing strategies we fall for. I highly recommend! ... full review
