Mayhem of the Music Meister!

benjamin nicholson · August 23, 2021 certified reviewer
Incredibly fun, particularly because the performers seemed to be having so much fun! I wish I could have caught the show in the theatre (had to watch the stream), but imagine that the overall silliness gave the room a very warm feel.... full review

#txtshow (on the internet)

Caught the matinee show and had a delightfully-intimate experience with a certain TXT and his handler. We discussed a possible attack on his ex-wife, the IRS Hive Queen, so as to put an end to the audit that I am currently under. Highly recommended for all of your taxation crises!... full review

Drama Therapy Workshop

benjamin nicholson · August 11, 2021 certified reviewer
Ryan did a phenomenal job of introducing the field of drama therapy and of working with a very generous audience on a series of exercises that addressed affinity, personal difficulties, and optimistic appreciation. Given the preceding year(s)+ and the ongoing pandemic, this workshop felt like an important opportunity to both hold time/space with others and to take a step back from anxieties of competition and "performance" (particularly for those folks who are also doing Fringe shows) and to reme... full review

Batter Up! My Brain on Baseball

benjamin nicholson · July 24, 2019 certified reviewer
Batter Up! felt more like a conversation with a friend than a theatrical production, and I mean this in the best possible way. Brett's love for baseball makes listening to a chronological listing of all the teams that lost in the World Series both endearing and something to root for; seeing Brett dig back through his years of baseball knowledge to triumphantly retrieve and share is both a remarkable feat of investment but also engrossing to observe. Even if you don't love baseball, this show give... full review

Livin' the Dream (a journalistic journey)

benjamin nicholson · June 25, 2019 certified reviewer
Bob sharing his life in an earnest and direct manner was both fascinating and endearing; he's led such an interesting life and made so many unique relationships with artists of all kinds. For someone who is so invested in the Fringe community, it was wonderful to get a better sense of who he is and where he comes from.... full review

Sunbathe in Darkness

benjamin nicholson · June 24, 2019 certified reviewer
In revealing the earnestness beneath the apparent absurdity of two highly disparaged pop culture communities (fan fiction and goth 'culture'), 'Sunbathe in Darkness' is able to both lampoon and elevate its subject matter, using the desire to laugh as a way to disarm the audience while delivering a powerful and contrasting moment of trauma.... full review

Life Plan, or Living Your Best Life in a Collapsing World

benjamin nicholson · June 20, 2019 certified reviewer
By the end, I was seriously considering getting on the armored bus waiting outside. Matthew and his team were so frighteningly persuasive that, if they don't actually intend to sell Life Plan, they should quit their current jobs and work together to sell SOMETHING; they would generate a lot of revenue (and, given the subtle philosophical arguments being made in the show, might know how to use it to avoid our totalitarian fate).... full review
