NILBOG: the unauthorized musical parody of Troll 2

david michael taylor · June 06, 2016 certified reviewer
This unauthorized musical parody of TROLL 2, largely regarded as the best worst movie ever made, is raucous to the extreme, which is not a bad thing. The performers give it everything they've got, with plenty of audience interaction. Packed with lots of surprises (even if you can quote every line of the movie), it is the definition of "never boring". The sold-out audience loved every second of the preview and what's not to love?... full review

Angel's Flight

Easily the slickest HFF show I've ever seen. The postage stamp-sized stage at Three Clubs is put to excellent use in this noir musical parody, taking us from one end of 1940s LA to the other and back again. A chorus of talented and gorgeous burlie-cuties provide eye-popping and jaw-dropping song and dance numbers, while the stars of the show play their parts to perfection. If only every show I see was this expertly put together.... full review

Still Got It

Hunt specializes in cringe comedy that features sympathetic losers who are so well-written, you sometimes forget to cringe. As a playwright and an actor, he understands that anyone can lose their way while some people never even get to find theirs in the first place. He's crafted an honest, complex and very funny look at one weekend in the life of a completely adrift man-child (who just wants to be a good friend to all the people he inadvertently terrorizes) without ever once being mean to any o... full review

Boss: The Untold Tony Danza Story

david michael taylor · June 15, 2015 uncertified reviewer
Damien Luvara's brilliant, hysterical script about Tony Danza is only surpassed by his brilliant, hysterical portrayal of Tony Danza. Supported by a pitch-perfect cast and the seamless, always on-point direction of Matt Ritchey, Luvara has created a show that defies your expectations in revealing the "truth" behind the boxer-turned-TV star and his hit '80s sitcom "Who's the Boss?". Such is Luvara's comic genius, you don't even have to have seen an episode of that show in order to enjoy this sho... full review

Late with Lance!

Peter Michael Marino's LATE WITH LANCE is an onstage interactive talk show hosted by Lance, a delusional hyperactive musical theatre queen, as written and performed by a NYC comedy and cabaret pro with an earned international reputation for excellence. Marino's Lance runs through his life at a mile-a-minute, pausing only to momentarily register disappointment, self-doubt or confusion, before remembering the show must go on. And go on it does! Twisting the talk show format inside-out and throwin... full review

This Vicious Minute

This brilliant script seamlessly weaves the intellectual and the visceral, flows effortlessly between the joy and burden of extreme emotions and the pain and freedom of their absence, and, in a nimble fashion both natural and unnerving, pairs body horror and eroticism. As a performer, Ben Moroski has the sort of stage presence you're either born with or you're not. His performance is so engaging that I couldn't believe, at the conclusion of its 75 minute running time, that the show was over so ... full review

So Much To Celebrate!

david michael taylor · June 11, 2012 uncertified reviewer
There is so much to celebrate about Jackie Loeb's new show, it's like Christmas in June, combined with an early Fourth of July, wrapped up in an Australian beauty with the voice of an angel, musical virtuousity and comedy chops like you rarely see. I've seen a lot of comedy and cabaret and I've never seen anything like Jackie Loeb. The packed house that was constantly convulsed in laughter seemed to agree with me. A definite must-see!... full review
