Very entertaining and always changing. Craig's use of accents, props, and audience participation ensures that no two shows are alike. ... full review

The play is full of violence and abuse, culminating in a tragic confrontation which leaves everyone devastated. Wonderfully written, Friends Like These is a must see play and will put a knot in your stomach by the end.... full review

The Stories of Cesar Chavez

Fred Blanco's piece The Stories of César Chavéz is a fascinating one-person show built around Chavéz's first hunger strike in 1968. During his fast, he prays and has a series of visions, which include meeting his wife, the beginning of the union, the grape boycott, and his time in the fields. These visions and multiple characters are all portrayed expertly and with depth. The six years spent in development and research is evident in Blanco's performance and monologues. Rehab! The Musical

Musicals are not my thing, and unfortunately Rehab! The Musical did not change my opinion. The songs and performers were hit or miss, the staging and scene transitions were awkward, and the entire thing never really seemed to come together. This is completely amazing and definitely in my top three list of productions I have seen in the last year. Script is amazing and interesting. Joe Calarco is fantastic and amazingly versatile. Lighting and sound design were also incredible. So sad I won't be able to see it again until August when they do it as part of their season. ... full review

Head Over Heels

Coeurage Theatre's production of Head Over Heels is composed of 17 individual scenes that are tied together with the themes of love and self discovery. Writer Eric Czuleger's decision to break the story into mostly individual monologues with the exception of two scenes is interesting, and allows for the themes to be discovered through all of the characters. Actress Kirsten Kuiken who plays the role of "Eve" (yeah, that eve) is the only character that repeats in the 17 scenes, and she does a fant... full review

That's funny. You didn't sound black on the phone.

rachel stoll armstrong · June 19, 2010 uncertified reviewer
The set and lights were simple but effective, and Szathmari gave a clear and comedic performance. That's funny. You didn't sound black on the phone show is worthwhile and clever; especially the first two acts which felt more lived-in and rehearsed. The show is relevant and covers, race, socio-economics, and religion. ... full review
