This imaginative Sci-Fi show brings out the best in the genre and the Hollywood Fringe Festival. The acting, directing, design and stagecraft are excellent. Day for Knight prove themselves to be Fringe veterans, having nearly mastered the form here. The limitations spark innovations, and early on begs question: what if they had more time, space, resources, etc? Yet another mind-bending renovation of Riley Smith’s Peter Jackson’s Tolkien classic. Missed the last 3? No worries, mate! Jump in here! Think you already know what happens? Fool of a Took! Smith and Cuomo prove they are still tricksy hobbitses with a few surprises that even Sauron’s great eye couldn’t see coming. Elli Legerski arrives in her Fringe debut with all the hairflips, heartbreak, and hard honesty you could ask for. This is a delightful first attempt at solo performance, and one that many seasoned performers could learn from. The execution of this solo show, with its messy authenticity, simple set, and half-hour run time, understands the assignment at Hollywood Fringe. Go see this show.
