What I liked
I loved the intimacy of Avital’s show, and thought the venue worked did well to highlight that as a particular strength. I also loved how “seen” I felt as a Jewish-American actor grappling with my own religious ideals.
What I didn't like
Shoshana’s mom needs to mind her own business.
My overall impression
Whew. I find myself thinking a lot about Avital’s show in the days since I saw it, a testament to the sheer amount of things in this show that resonated and made me think about things. I loved getting to see this stripped down look into Avital’s life and experiences—the hilarious, the nonsensical, the ludicrous, the poignant. Avital navigates from heartbreaking and vulnerable to raunchy and utterly ridiculous deftly and creates moments that are deliciously uncomfortable. Edinburgh is so lucky to get this show next, I’m so glad to hear Avital’s taking it there!
