Genuinely informative about Lovecraft while being frank in identifying his prejudices. The playing with audience expectations is done in a way that resonates with the subject matter. You will be pulled in by Alcoser’s performance in unexpected ways.
What I didn't like
It’s easy to accidentally knock over the decorative candles when walking into the theater. (This may have happened to me.)
My overall impression
Part biography of the grandfather of supernatural horror lit, part historical reenactment of vignettes from Lovecraft’s life, and part exploration of how we can connect to works of art despite having strong issues with their creators. Presented in a manner that draws some inspiration from Lovecraft’s own works.
