HYPOMANIC explores one woman’s attempt to manage the conditions of living with bipolar disorder, while following her through a state of hypomania. We see her attempt to navigate through irritability, hyper sexuality, and grandiose thinking, all while hiding her illness from her closest friends and family. Provocatively commenting on race, equity, and grief, she breaks the fourth wall, and confides in the audience like an old friend as a way to cope with deeper holes of isolation and insanity. HYPOMANIC is an equally comedic and tragic story, posing the question if a person living with a mental illness has an equitable place in society.
