What I liked

Johnny as Romeo was one of the most effortless portrayals of the character. The amount of ease he had really seemed he embodied the character. Amy as the Nurse made me appreciate her in a way I never fully did previously. Witty, charming, quick and comforting. Maddie as Mercutio. There’s nothing really to say other than they were the most badass and beloved Mercutio. I heard multiple people during intermission saying Mercutio is their favorite. And Scarlett as Juliet. What gentleness yet SASS! Truly gorgeous gorgeous work to watch.

What I didn't like

I think the only thing I get was a little distracting was the drum riser in the center of the stage the whole time. I understand it was there to maybe separate the households but it took up a lot of real estate. Other than that, I thought everything was stellar.

My overall impression

What a wonderful adaptation of such a beloved story. I loved the subtle Coachella vibes which made it modern enough that even the most adverse Shakespeare audience members can follow along and understand the story. The entire cast is superb. From Romeo and Juliet to the Nurse to the Prologue on the drums setting the tone the minute you walk in the theatre. Truly loved they entire show. Great work!
