FIVE YEARS IN AMSTERDAM

I was curious what it would be like to see one of my favorite actors ever NOT playing a role in this, his autobiographical solo show… Would I feel deprived of his unpredictable characterizations? Would I be distracted by a *certain* TV show’s cultural impact? Worse yet, would I find myself comparing him to the endlessly entertaining fictional incarnations he’s brought to life in the past, and feel maybe…disappointed? The answer: No no and feck no. What I received was a thrill ride so hilarious and uncensored that I got a dyed-in-the-wool comedian’s backstage pass to what was essentially a rock show of Europe’s most titillating Mecca of Excess. What a joy to see Brendan Hunt telling this fun and frivolous tale of a transformative time in his life. It was a wild, fast-paced, psychedelic-like ride with some surprising moments of harsh reality sprinkled in. You really don’t have to be a TL fan to enjoy the ride (dare I say “trip”). If you relate to: liking sex, learning to avoid regret, and fighting a version of buzzing negativity in your head, the show will hit the same resonant frequency in your soul, despite any well-placed voice cracks. But being a fan made my appreciation for his MAIN character sooo much richer. #vindicated... full review

This show made my want to visit my cousins in Amsterdam again. Really fun ride into the crazy and wild experiences of Brendan when he was starting out in comedy. Loved the language and humor. It was fast-paced, which I prefer in solo shows. ... full review
