By giving audiences the opportunity to literally read a character’s mind, while simultaneously challenging the audience member to participate in the storytelling (and sometimes eliciting laughs with the lines delivered aloud based off that insider knowledge), this format strides the line between performance and game. This medium would do wonders used in a theater class context!
What I didn't like
The writing itself isn’t the strongest when held up against other Fringe shows; since the material is presented in relatively short episodic experiences and the concept itself is very entertaining, this isn’t a dealbreaker by any means, but this project could have an even greater future if it invested in gripping narratives.
My overall impression
What an innovative new way to experience theater! Very glad I had the chance to study and learn from this artistic experiment as a creative theatermaker (and participate as an audience actor!); the unique nature of the set up is what makes this piece worth seeing, and I’m looking forward to the at-home release.
