What I liked

The songs were clever, touching, witty, and poignant! I also loved the fact that I LEARNED a lot during this show… I knew nothing about the men that Laser spoke about, so I dig a good show that teaches me something in addition to entertaining me! I really loved anytime that Laser grabbed that guitar as I knew my heart was gonna go into full-time melt mode. I must give a shout-out to some FUN props – who doesn’t love a time travel device and drinking some BAWLS (did I spell that right?). The projections were also pretty sweet, especially the interactive BEAST J.K.R.

As a Director myself, I can tell when a piece has been beautifully influenced by a skilled one and I am gonna give a shout-out to Ashley Ward for a FANTASTIC job on this solo show!

What I didn't like

I can easily see this piece being longer and would relish watching Laser tackle some other well-known nemeses of the trans community.

My overall impression

You had all of me at the title! I came to this show not knowing the artist, any of the creative forces involved and very little about what the show was about (on purpose, as I like to be surprised with my fringing), and I was so PLEASANTLY DELIGHTED IN ALL THE WAYS! ALL THE WAYS!! Laser is my kinda guy: a truth-telling, take-me-as-I-am (and that means all of me), you-know-you-gonna-love-me, charismatic performer! I love everything his show stands to share with the world and know it will continue to educate and entertain all who see it! Kudos!
