I like straight talk to the audience coupled with personal examples of the deeper questions one faces as one ages. I also like Art’s resistance to some of the cliche labels that come along with aging – though I do believe one would fit appropriately in this piece – “YOUAREONLY AS OLD AS YOUFEEL!” And let’s be honest here, Art is looking, sounding, and ACTING pretty darn young by any standard of measurement. Can I get an amen?!?!
What I didn't like
For my taste, I would like to trim out some of the fluff, repetition and some of the jokes that don’t really work for some of the “deeper” stuff that is in there that could really educate and entertain a younger audience.
My overall impression
What can I say? We’ve got a consummate performer/writer doing what he does best – sharing a personal story with an audience about aging and all that it entails! Sometimes, he gets cheesy (or in his own words, “silly stupid”), but other times, he is utterly profound and deep. I can only say that I’d like to be this sharp, this meaningful and this engaging when I hit this age milestone… and by admitting that, I just gave this creative man and his show a very high compliment!
