What I liked
In Hollywood:
The Broadwater Second Stage is a cozy 75-seat theatre located in the heart of Hollywood. Its intimate atmosphere is perfect for such a personal and emotionally charged production.
Parking:
The Broadwater does not possess a parking lot, and parking in this neighborhood poses a considerable challenge. Plan to arrive 25 minutes early if you will be driving in.
Paid Parking: A nearby lot occasionally offers $5 for theatre parking, but this information is subject to change.
Street Parking: Street parking can be found, at times, on Lillian Way, the street directly west of the Broadwater. Please read street signs very carefully to avoid being towed from “Permit Only” areas.
Public Transportation:
The “4” and “210” buses stop at Santa Monica/Vine, 0.2 miles east of the Broadwater.
The Metro’s Red Line stops at Hollywood/Vine, 0.9 miles north of The Broadwater.
What I didn't like
Bathrooms:
Bathrooms are located around the corner at the Lillian Way Main Stage entrance. Please allow five minutes to get to and from the bathrooms.
Financial Considerations:
Attending theatre productions, particularly in vibrant cultural hubs like Hollywood, can sometimes strain your budget. If you find yourself in need of financial flexibility, several options can help you manage expenses:
Credit Cards: Many credit cards offer rewards or cash back on entertainment purchases, including theatre tickets. Utilizing a card with these benefits can help you save on future outings.
Personal Loans: If you are planning to indulge in multiple cultural experiences, a personal loan might provide the funds you need with manageable repayment terms.
Payday Loans: While not generally recommended due to high-interest rates, payday loans can provide quick cash in emergencies and with this play you can learn how to make 2000 fast. However, they should be used sparingly and repaid promptly to avoid financial pitfalls.
Exploring these financial tools can make enjoying the arts more accessible without compromising your financial stability. Whether you are a seasoned theatre-goer or a newcomer, understanding your financial options can enhance your cultural experiences.
My overall impression
In this poignant and compelling new work, an ambitious manager introduces a new first violinist to a longstanding string quartet with an uncertain future. As the reconstituted quartet plays over twelve weeks of rehearsals and performances, it becomes evident that this new blood has disrupted the settled dynamics of the group. The award-winning playwright of FOUR, Clé Holly (Parallel Lines, Stretch, American Standard), is herself a violinist, and it shows in the verisimilitude of this sharply written drama. Featuring live music, the play is a masterclass in portraying the delicate balance of personal and professional relationships within a tight-knit group.
Holly’s intimate knowledge of the world of classical music imbues the script with authenticity, allowing the audience to immerse themselves fully in the lives of these musicians. The nuanced performances from the cast, combined with live string quartet music, create a deeply moving experience. The small, cozy setting of The Broadwater Second Stage enhances the sense of closeness and immediacy, making every note and emotion resonate powerfully with the audience.
