What I liked

He brought us home with him to Harlem, USA. And, hailing from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn myself, not at all the Harlem I ever caught a glimpse of. Story after marvelous story shined a bright, loving light on his ancestors. His colorful and meticulous detail of the Jim Crow south, and his grandfather Mook’s navigations of it, allowed us to see and feel it on previously unimagined levels. Lee’s spoken word poetry is unparalleled. His timing is stunning. And the way he brought such a vast expanse of wisdom and experience to crescendo (multiple times!) was masterful and exquisite. To say I am proud of my friend would be a gross understatement. This ONE MAN SHOW goes deeper and wider into who we all are at our core. I called Lee to thank him and to share with him that I can see this show catching fire and touring all over, first here and then state to state. I see this offering opening minds and hearts all over rural towns and big cities through the southwest, and the dirty south, winding up with a live broadcast in New York. “I AM” grateful I was present at the first ever live performance. This is your sign… 2 shows left at the Fringe. Go.

What I didn't like

I got nothing.

My overall impression

I’ve attended more plays, performances, and 1 man shows on and off-Broadway in NYC and in and around Hollywood to support my friends than I can remember. Knowing Levy Lee Simon for nearly 20 years, I was expecting a lot. Suffice to say, my mind and heart were blown wide open. It’s been 3 days since I sat in the Fringe Theater, Main stage…I am still reeling. It (Lee) was absolutely incredible!
