What I liked

Alan. If you don’t like Alan, you’re probably not going to like the show. I don’t KNOW Alan, but I know I’ve met him somewhere. Prior to the show, I racked my brain and could not figure it out. Saw the show, and still can’t place it. But I know it happened. I was probably drunk. But, ya, Alan was a hoot and a holler.

What I didn't like

Definitely felt like a work-in-progress for potentially an hour long stand-up set, which isn’t a knock, it’s just the only thing I can think of to mention. There’s not ‘improvements’ to suggest for such an honest and vulnerable expression of art. To offer them would kind of be a pompous and dick-headed thing to do.

My overall impression

A personal and entertaining dive into the vulnerabilities and eccentricities associated with an active sexual life. Alan takes us on a remarkably poignant journey from 1st grade thru his early-30’s, and he’s an effortlessly engaging storyteller, setting the audience at ease, and developing a fluid and well-paced structure that makes the time fly by (not always the case with solo shows).
