Sound could have been more “live.” I had difficulty understanding the lyrics.
My overall impression
You can’t get any Fringier than this solo performance musical, based on the life of Prince Harry. With its hilarious title and the idea behind it, “PHL@C” is unapologetically silly and fun; there’s nothing to be learned here, unless you really start reading into it (I mean, the real guy can’t seem to get a break). Chris Chianesi’s high-energy creation is masterful, his techno visuals are vividly appropriate and I left humming the tunes. I really enjoyed this slice of escapism that runs way under 60 minutes. If “leave them wanting more” is still the best theatrical device, then it worked for me and the rest of the audience the night I saw it. I want to see more.
