The winners of the HFF16 Best Comedy return this year with OH, LORRAINE, a screwball romance that looks to the past for inspiration as often as it discovers humor in the present. Going into mechanizations of the plot would spoil the some of the play’s surprising humor, so I’ll just say that Peter Fluet (who also wrote) and Carrie Keranen (in the titular role) deliver gems of off-center character and comic timing. They’re supported by a spectacular supporting cast: Jessie Bias, Ryan Gowland, Amanda Blake Davis and Van Ayasit. A team of rotating live pianists adds to the affable atmosphere. Victor Isaac’s direction keeps the pace moving and the humor flowing.
What I didn't like

My overall impression
In our picky, swipe-left era of dating apps and half-assed relationship advice, it’s a distinct pleasure to take in a play where opposites still attract. One that’s willing to stand its lonely ground and claim there’s someone for everyone no matter how rocky their past has been and their future may be. That OH, LORRAINE does it with a stampede of laughs makes this marvelous production a must-see.
