What I liked

The juxtaposition of (Carrie Keranen) Lorraine’s idealistic mania against (Peter Fluet) Del’s intensely subtle psychopathy makes for a first date we want to see succeed romantically and fail gruesomely all at the same time. The show is the perfect embodiment of the anxiety, dread, glee, and micro-adventure that accompanies most every persons “first kiss”. Keranen hilariously kills with kindness while Fluet finds meaning in being.

What I didn't like

Probably could’ve used a fight choreographer for a couple moments, but otherwise, there wasn’t much to complain about. Supporting cast was magnificent as well with, in particular, Amanda Blake Davis and Ryan Gowland standing out in their juicy supporting roles.

My overall impression

Fantastic performances and crisp direction. The Carrie/Isaac/Fluet trio bring out the best in each other, and the story is grounded in Fluet’s beautiful performance that outshines his own writing. And, for the record, his writing is excellent.
