Just a lovely unforced comedy mixed well-crafted comedic timing an incredibly accomplished and talented cast. So often you see show where the jokes are hitting you over the head, but here the actors and writer really let them play in the context of the characters and action. Don’t get me wrong they got some hard jokes, but it’s all rooted in the characters and helps drive the story forward.
What I didn't like
If I had to give a critique I would say that once we reveal the initial premise we’re left with less surprises than I’d hope. Or at least the turns don’t land as strongly as I may have hoped. This being said the humor heart and 1hr format of the show really mitigate this for me, and it doesn’t detract from how enjoyable it show is.
My overall impression
Dark, quirky, and undeniably delightful, ‘Oh, Lorraine’ is an absolute blast from start to finish. This one-hour gem takes a fun premise and infuses it with an abundance of laughter and heart. The performances across the board are nothing short of fantastic, with the endearing oddball leads stealing the show, and every side character having their own standout moments. The play strikes a perfect balance of fun, dark absurd humor that surprisingly taps into emotional and highly relatable touchstones. Be sure to do yourself a favor and check out ‘Oh, Lorraine’!
