The writing was insightful and character driven as well as hilarious. The roles felt lived in and real, despite often being big. It’s an exaggerated, maybe stylized kind of comedy but the cast pulled it off beautifully, nailing the funny moments along with the sincere ones. It was a lot of fun to get to watch with a big crowd that was very much along for the ride.
What I didn't like
There was maybe a couple opportunities for a little more subtlety but it was so much fun I think it’d be a disservice to change it.
My overall impression
This was a wonderful show. Hilarious with tons of heart. Broad in the best sense of the word (silly and incredible commitment from the leads and supporting roles) but with tons of heart and a classic sense of romance.
