The show is incredibly well crafted. Both extremely funny and poignant. Beautiful, moving, powerful are also words that I would use to describe it. Josiah is an extremely gifted artist (both as a performer and writer) who is generous and not afraid to share the most intimate, darkest thoughts with the audience in a very eloquent and compelling way. That is where the power of his work lies, in the complete commitment to his art and the ability to make you engage, understand, and question your own relationship to God and to yourself. A great work from a very special artist that brings back the essence of what theater is supposed to be.... full review

I LOVED Flayed! Josiah's writing and performance were absolutely brilliant. His story is so moving and I felt myself tear up a number of times. The whole production was top notch and I loved the addition of all the lighting and sound effects. Perfect running time. And I thought including the audience led to so much humor. Top notch show!... full review

Here's the deal: Josiah is a force to be reckoned with. This play is internal and external---presentational and real---past and present---homoerotic and heteronormative---gut-busting funny and gut-wrenching raw. The perspective he has on such relatively recent events blows me away, the depth of which feels like it should require years of distance. I don't want to spoil too much content because the element of surprise was HUGE for me in this piece. I'm in awe of this guy! Where the hell did he come from? HE'S GOING PLACES BABYYY. ... full review

What a show! You can tell how much thought and time went into crafting this piece and it shows. Josiah seamlessly carries the audience through a beautifully funny fever dream that takes us to a vulnerable beautiful truth. His audience interaction is some of the best I've ever seen and his commitment to the ridiculous and the authentic is bold and gorgeous. A masterful piece of theater. ... full review

Josiah Blount's powerhouse performance in "Flayed" is one of the best examples of solo show crafting I've ever witnessed. The show is chock-full of characters, each so clearly different, insanely and individually unwrapped, that following this actor into the pits of hell is an absolute joy. Giving any more away would be a sin but let's just say that "Flayed" and its incredible performer will keep you thinking and rehashing for quite some time, especially if, like me, you've had similar dark experiences with Christian zealotry, sexual guilt and shame. When performing, I was always taught to "extend to the logical absurdity" and that's just what Blount soars at. Be prepared for ANYTHING, folks.... full review
