"Flayed" was truly an accurate representation of its presenter; it was smart, genuine, compelling, and hot. I would see it again in a heartbeat. Josiah shines a brilliant spotlight on the nature of being a young queer in rural Appalachia compounded by the hurdles of a religious upbringing. The humor and delivery were brazen and rightfully so. I was taken on a journey through the lens of a young pastor who is giving his first sermon. He seems to be uneasy because he is trying to be someone that he is not. A show that uses comedy to travel time and space, centering in on a young man’s religious trauma. Incredible character work and bits I truly never thought I’d ever see. This show was fully and absolutely brilliant. It was somehow both down-to-earth and completely fantastical, both over-the-top and deeply personal. Josiah is razor-sharp, and transitions between characters with impressive specificity. This is a solo show, but it feels impossible that it is being performed by only one person. I'm going to be thinking about this show for a long time. it is an impressive theatrical feat and truly one of my favorite performances I've seen in recent history. ... full review
