What I liked

An incredibly strong performances from the actors and actresses, who were all given very emotional demanding roles. The 4 leads all did a phenomenal job in the spotlight, but the actor/actress for Aaron and Phoebe especially impressed me. The writing and staging was tight and smartly written. Scene changes were very limited as to account for the smaller-scale production. The character writing was great as well, with each having a recognizable yet interesting dynamic with each other. As for the story, I could immediately sense clues and set-ups being dropped, but only saw the big picture at the end, like any great mystery. There were times when I chuckled (especially at certain moments of, what I assume to be, the actors/actresses adding a bit of well-timed comedy to their performances) and times when I audibly gasped. The story’s theme is especially poignant as well, without demanding the audience to take a side.

What I didn't like

Like most strong writing debuts, the only main improvement I can say is that the script could use a bit of tightening. The dots are all there; the only work that is needed is for a few more connecting lines to be drawn to elevate a great script to a superb script. But these are things that come naturally with more experience with the craft. I am excited to see what Cameron, Soo Chyun, and the others involved have in store for their next production.

My overall impression

I was incredibly impressed by the play, especially with it being the writer’s first production. Right off the bat, the concept hooked my interest and didn’t let go until the very end.
