What I liked

I liked Nancy Beverly’s immediate connection and comfort with the audience. It wasn’t stagy. It was very natural, but she also used comedic timing expertly, and had some very funny lines.

What I didn't like

Nancy Beverly describes moments of disappointment, and a constant quest to figure out who she is and what she’s doing here (on Planet Earth) but there is a lack of deep pain. Now maybe she’s been incredibly fortunate in her life (more power to her) but I was expecting a bit more conflict, a bit more drama. It’s as if she’s put a curtain around some of the deeper, more dramatic or uncomfortable times in her life, and is not letting us see those. That, of course, is her choice, but I think the inclusion of some of those thoughts/experiences/moments would have deepened my great appreciation for this excellent show. I’m assuming that there must have been times of great loneliness or isolation for her, but it seems she just good naturedly soldiers on and that’s that.

My overall impression

Humorous but very thoughtful, full of unexpected moments, tender, gentle, and extremely well-performed. Nancy Beverly connected very well with her audience.
