“Unwrapped: Life After Giftedness” is an autobiographical one-woman show created and performed by autobiographer, woman, creator, and performer Kira Wallace. Kira offers her uniquely Gen-Z perspective on an upbringing defined by one word: exceptionalism. Her show explores the impact of being told that she was unlike anyone else—before she even knew who she was. From being labeled as “gifted” to receiving a handful of mental illness diagnoses, her identity was pathologized while it was still forming. Now, at the ripe old age of 18, Kira is an absolute disaster. Recovering from nearly two decades of isolation and self-hatred, this is her attempt to reconcile two fundamental truths:

1. I am special

2. So is everyone else

Kira’s whole life is basically a power struggle, an allegorical tug-of-war between control and connection. It’s a good time.
