About the Project
The Sunrise Club is a new, independent play, with music. It is about Madeline and Charlie: best friends, and seniors in high school who join a club founded by a mysterious boy named Max. The play takes place about 2 weeks before the federal government’s execution of OAE (Operation Abandon Earth) for which all people are to be evacuated from Earth due to terrible living conditions. Some do not agree with OAE. EarthWorld, for example, is an eco-terrorism organization. They want to get people to stay on Earth by any means necessary. The Sunrise Club is the end of this world, and the beginning of a new one. It’s a girl. It’s a boy. It’s the last day of school. The Sunrise Club is the last midlife crisis. It’s the last party, the last protest. The Sunrise Club is an eco-terrorist, an insomniac, and a love triangle, between you, me, and the sun.
