What I liked

The language is rich and fully expresses what it is like to be an Indian women and more specifically a women of color in America. The parallel between Lauren and Begum Akhtar as talented singers and Indian women in a world that is filled with prejudice and objectification is conveyed exquisitely. A strong part I related with is how we can tarnish our joys in life once we start to carry the weight of being a"success" with it, and once we are thrown under a microscope by others… The phone calls with her mom were so funny and precious. Also all the sounds cue’s and nuances of humor in it were spot on! There are so many themes and layers in this show that I could go on forever, but it is worth watching to find out for yourself!

What I didn't like

Zip! A show written with this much depth in it, there are infinite possibilities to explore.

My overall impression

A masterpiece for the ages! Beautifully captivating, heartfelt, nostalgic, and an eye-opening performance that makes you laugh, dance, and cry all at once. I’ve never seen an entire audience in tears and the energy in the room was impeccable! Also don’t get me started on her operatic voice, it was ASTOUNDINGLY BEAUTIFUL!
