My overall impression
The marketing of this piece, with a condom attached to the flyer proclaiming alternately “Wanna be seduced?” and “Wait, are you a virgin?” compelled me to check it out.
The play is composed of three separate stories, which share a common theme. From what I could gather, the title comes from the third one, where a man from the future comes back in search of the perfect candidate to repopulate the earth.
The glue in this production is the stellar work of Alla Poberesky. Whether portraying a rape victim looking for understanding, a Russian cellist looking to move a recently discovered manuscript or the “perfect candidate” being recruited to repopulate the earth, Alla’s sexuality and sensualness comes through loud and clear. You WANT to be seduced by this woman, whether you’re a virgin or not.
I was also impressed by the way the actors made the story transitions – they sensuously danced and pranced as they moved from one scene to the next – it was almost like foreplay for the next story.
This show is a hit – check it out but be warned – you’ll be looking for someone to seduce when you leave the theater.
