A delightfully absurd comedy about a disturbing but equally absurd event in our recent political history.... full review

Brilliant! Perhaps the fastest hour in theatre nowadays - crisp, searing dialogue, a cast that clearly loves the work, and a subject that is top-of-mind. It took 20 years for "Springtime for Hitler" to satirize WWII, 30 years for Sondeim's "Assassins" to satirize JFK's murder, and the Vietnam War was still too fresh for M*A*S*H, which was nominally about the Korean War. But TOURRORISTS EXPLODES onto the stage barely 17 months after the January 6th insurrection, with a well-researched script that delivers a message as breezily as it delivers humor and pathos. A standing ovation for the cast, playwright and director was well-deserved. I hope TOURRORISTS finds life after Fringe. It (and we) deserve it!... full review

I attended this show as an adjudicator for the Theatre Theater Playwright Award, so I'll be focusing mainly on the writing of the piece in this review. Playwright Emma Gardener has taken the collective trauma of America and twisted it into satire. When a group of insurrectionists on January 6th finally find Nancy Pelosi's office they are met by her semi-liberal assistant and plenty of confusion. The audience was with the show right away and there was plenty of laughter and guffaw as we were bombarded with obnoxious political sound-bites that we've come to know well the past few years. The first 20 minutes really chug, and we get the joke right away. The back half however did leave me wondering who the play was for. Are we watching to... full review

This fast-paced and witty script is deftly performed by a talented cast. Never did I think I would laugh at anything regarding the insurrection, but this play had me in stitches. Bravo to cast and the writer for bringing us this gem!... full review

There was so I enjoyed about seeing Tourrorists at the Hollywood Fringe! While the play began as a sardonic political satire about some of the caricatured 'types' we love to hate on (the maga-happy Karen, the closeted incel) ... marooned in the Capitol during the January 6th insurrection, the play soon evolved into a more nuanced meditation on what we actually share. I laughed so much, but left the theater with a lot to think about. Think sharp, caustic writing combined with energetic performances ... what's not to love? I liked the show so much I saw it twice and I would totally see it again. ... full review
