In the 34 years Mike Royko was a columnist in Chicago he wrote over 7,500 columns for all three major Chicago newspapers. He was charming, sweet, mean, angry, rude, and often drunk. No one wrote more about the inner workings of a city and the working class people who made it run more than Mike Royko. Love him or hate him (and people of his time most certainly felt both ways), he had a lot to say and a unique way of saying. This play moves us through Mike Royko’s life from a depression era bartender at age 13 to the toughest man in Chicago.
