Hands down, the acting is what sold me on this show!! There is some tremendous talent on stage and while I certainly think Mamet’s work can lend itself well to competent actors, not all fully embrace the subtle nuances or discover some of his deeper themes. The design element, direction, and transition between pieces were all executed flawlessly! I highly recommend this production!
What I didn't like
There were times the intensity level of the performance seemed to stay the same – very high-octane energy. A lot of passion, a lot of loud shouting/yelling and in those instances, it made it a little tough to hear all the rich dialogue.
My overall impression
Brimming with a constant, energetic pulse, No One Will Be Immune, et. al., explores the lesser known works of frenetic playwright, David Mamet. Luckily for the audience, the performers were up to the task of keeping pace and delivering these provocative, probing, humorous and sometimes, emotionally distraught pieces to life! I definitely see great things in store with this company going forward and look forward to seeing them flex their acting and directing chops on other playwrights’ works or original pieces.
