Yoni Ki Kahaniya isn't just a deeply contemporary and educational experience that perfectly delivers everything I want from a Fringe play, it is essential viewing to artists and academics.
As a writer who ponders deeply on overlooked sources behind societal issues, notably gender and the censorship of female sexual experiences, I felt a range of heavy emotions on the subject matter and the gall of these performers to unite and share these commercially unviable stories. I imagine for most audiences that the moment you first hear the title your first instinct is to laugh and expect an adult parody full of vagina puns but the revelation of the story is a deconstruction of how tragically problematic that instinct is. The fact of the matter i...

The Hollywood Fringe at its best. This show was a fun, revealing and thoughtful exploration of four Asian Americans and their vaginas. Unique to their heritage, but universal in there struggles and triumphs. I laughed and I was moved as each actor took us on a small part of their journey as girls, teenagers and adult women. Go and see Yoni Ki Kahaniya. ...

This talented ensemble shared stories of their personal experiences growing up as South Asian American women with movement well directed by Marianne Davis. With each being raised in different parts of the world, be it in America or elsewhere, as their stories were told you really got a sense of their identities as well as how all women should look at their bodies without shame. I was really impressed at their level of interaction while using beautiful scarves as props, especially since one of the cast was absent due to illness, and I would never have known that had I not looked at the program! Congrats ladies on a marvelously entertaining and educational show!...

Following in the #MeToo movement I was happy to see the South Asian women speaking their truth and breaking their traditional oppressed silence. I hope they felt the weight lift off by the support that was evident in the theatre and the sold out and encore response this show is receiving!...
